To Japanese

JA1PTO

On August 15, 2007, one of the hottest day in this summer, some part of Japan recorded 40.2 degree Celsius or 104.4 degrees Fahrenheit. On of the hottest day for several years. We, JA1TGC and JA1PTO, gathered at JA1PYP's for help installing his Ring Rotor.

I, JA1PTO, arrived at the site little late, around 9:30, but because of JA1TGC's expertise, I found a good progress.

Some of you may notice that the rotor is placed higher than usual. We had difficulty placing the rotor at second to top portion of the tower. There are no clearances between top tower and second to top tower.

We asked TIC Ring and found that they are providing tower leg insert attachment to place top of second tower section. T.H.R.U.S.H. may provide consultation if someone has similar problem.

After JA1PTO join, JA1PYP stay on the ground to manage the entire activities and also help supply necessary components. JA1TGC and JA1PTO are on the tower to assemble the rotor.

The manuals provided with the rotor is not very detail so two of us on the tower sometimes said different opinion but anyway able to managed. We did not install motor yet but this is where end of the day.

Three of us on the ground. It was 11:00.
JA1TGC was wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants. According to him, this is the necessary safety precautions for working on the tower.

After we washed out our sweats, we had a party. JA1PYP is the best chef. He cooked various gorgeous food. We enjoyed all along with chilled cold beers.

As you see, Ring Rotor is placed middle portion of the top tower section. Basically, Rotor should be placed on the second section of the tower. Because our tower is a crankup style, there are very little space between outer and inner pipe, so we placed the rotor on the top section.
TIC Ring kindly sent us adapter which we can insert into the second tower leg pipes (red circle above).

In order to move Ring Rotor to right position, JA1KVT, JA1PTO and JA1TGC gathered at JA1PYP on November 10, 2007 again.

Unfortunately, the day was rain and cold.
JA1PYP and JA1TGC went up the tower and JA1KVT and JA1PTO stay ground for support.
We better disassemble and re-assemble but we decided to move as it is assembled.
First, we insert and fix the adapter to the second tower leg pipe.
We hold the Rotor by rope.
While JA1KVT and JA1PTO hold the rope from ground, JA1PYP and JA1TGC manually move the Rotor to the right position on the tower.
It sound easy but in a rainy and cold codition, it took almost one hour.
